on how it help to stimulate the local consumption and promote mutual support while strengthening community cohesion (Cantonese only)
In light of the fifth wave of COVID-19, Chow Tai Fook Charity Foundation joined hands with Chan Cheung Mun Chung Charitable Fund, Fu Tak Iam Foundation, Kadoorie Charitable Foundation, Kerry Group, Lee Hysan Foundation, Lee Kum Kee Family Foundation, Si Yuan Foundation, Simon K.Y. Lee Foundation and ZeShan Foundation (in alphabetical order) to launch the second phase of Wu Wu Cheng Community Mutual Support Programme to distribute “district-based” consumption vouchers between March to September to vulnerable communities with an aim to alleviate their immediate needs and stimulate local consumption. .
In order to facilitate the speedy distribution of the consumption vouchers and enable the needed ones to receive timely support, we partnered with 12 local NGOs and allowed flexibility in the project implementation. Some of the NGOs invited local residents to take part in the design and implementation which makes the locally specific initiatives more relevant to their needs.
The second phase of Wu Wu Cheng Community Mutual Support Programme was launched across 12 districts in the city. Recently, the “City Focus” programme of Open TV interviewed two of our partnered local NGOs and their participating kaifongs (neighbours), as well as local stores to understand how did the initiative helped stimulating the local consumption and promoting mutual support while strengthening community cohesion.
