Residing in sub-divided flats, the post-90s mother of three including two SEN children is mentally and physically exhausted
A post-90s mother of three resides in a sub-divided flat. The two younger daughters were diagnosed with autism and language delay respectively, and need special training. In addition, she has to take care of her six-year-old daughter’s studies and the family’s daily living. Cooking and online classes made her physically and mentally drained everyday as they were like in war-mode. Through Take-A-Break Community Space programme which is funded by Chow Tai Fook Charity Foundation and implemented by the Hong Kong Federation of Women’s Centres and Concern for Grassroots Living Livelihood Alliance, she receives respite care service and alleviates the pressure as a carer. She hopes that the Policy Address will feature comprehensive policies for SEN children and families that provide respite care, mental wellness and speech therapies.
