CUHK’s Henry Cheng International Conference Centre

One of the first donations made by our Founder Dr. Cheng Yu-Tung was the support for the educational programme of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) back in 1977, reaching deep connection with the tertiary institutions especially CUHK. Over the years, Chow Tai Fook Charity Foundation (the Foundation) has supported the development of CUHK and the enhancement of its educational standards. In 2019, the Foundation made a donation to the university for building a new venue for convening international academic conferences to promote the development of tertiary education and international academic exchanges in Hong Kong.

Conveniently located next to CUHK’s teaching hotel, the Conference Centre is equipped with advanced audio-visual systems and conferencing equipment, and designed with a flexible and spacious area for organising major conferences and forums for up to 460 people, and providing outstanding experience for the participants.

Opened in 2019, the Conference Centre is located on the first two floors of the Cheng Yu Tung Building commissioned in 2011. It was named as the Henry Cheng International Conference Centre to highlight the Cheng family’s legacy of charitable support for education. In addition to being used to conduct international conferences, the Conference Centre is also well utilised by different schools, faculties, departments and research units of the university.

Dr Cheng Yu-Tung was a philanthropist who had made incredible contributions to public welfare and education. His family members have inherited his virtues of doing good deeds and founded Chow Tai Fook Charity Foundation, with the objective of working with various non-profit organisations to promote sustainable community development. CUHK is very pleased to share the same philosophy with the Cheng family and to receive a generous donation from the Foundation to support the renovation of the Cheng Yu Tung Building. The first and second levels of the building have been converted into a comprehensive conference venue equipped with advanced facilities for the University to host more international academic conferences and events, so as to promote knowledge dissemination and exchange
