HKUST’s Cheng Kar-Shun Robotics Institute
Chow Tai Fook Charity Foundation (the Foundation) supported The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) on the University’s academic and research development. The donation from the Foundation sought to enhance the University’s research capabilities in areas such as robotics and autonomous systems; deepen student learning in innovation and design thinking competency, as well as advance entrepreneurship and knowledge transfer.
The donation would be used for the new faculty – in particular those from the School of Science and School of Engineering, to set up laboratories, recruit research assistants and purchase equipment.
As a token of appreciation, the University named its Robotics Institute with presence in Hong Kong and future Guangzhou campus as Cheng Kar-Shun Robotics Institute. Through empowering the next generation through education, the Foundation helped contributing to Hong Kong’s development into an international innovation and technology hub.
