Hospital assistant quitted her job and became as a single mother to take care of her daughter after her husband died in the fifth wave of pandemic
A family of four with two working parents faced tragedies. The whole family were infected with coronavirus consecutively. The husband died within a few days and the grandfather was so emaciated. The family now relied on the hospital assistant who quitted her job to take care of her daughter. After she was in a better mood most recently and received respite service from Take-A-Break Community Space funded by Chow Tai Fook Charity Foundation and organised by Hong Kong Federation of Women’s Centres and Concern for Grassroots Living Livelihood Alliance, she started to work as a part-time, but still have to rely on her savings as the expenses exceed her income. She hopes the Policy Address will announce measures including full-time respite care services and learning support for single-parent families, promoting employment for needed women so as to allow them to raise a family and take care of their children.
