Pharmacy owner donated bone-building supplements to the elderlies sharing past experience of poverty and residing in sub-divided flat (Chinese only)
One of the 200 local small shops participating in the “Wu Wu Cheng” Community Mutual Support initiative funded by Chow Tai Fook Charity Foundation and nine other funders had gone an extra mile in donating a box of 100 bottles of calcium tablets to the elderlies in needed. The owner of the pharmacy said their participation in the programme see mutual benefits as it helped supplementing their income and bringing new customers during the difficult times while easing the financial burden of the underprivileged families with daily necessities, such as toilet rolls, shampoo and drinks, etc.
The story also interviewed volunteer helpers and beneficiaries Ms. Chan and Ms. Lam who lobbied small shops to participate along with one of the 12 NGO partners People Service Centre who supported in launching the initiative sowing the seed of solidarity in Kowloon City in light of the fifth wave of COVID-19. The initiative promotes mutual support and social cohesion through distributing “district-based” consumption vouchers to vulnerable communities across 12 districts in the city.
